Sandra And The Memory Machine aka Sandra Marinovich, is from Sydney, Australia. Sandra‚Äö?Ñ?¥s history stems from Croatia and her parents emmigrated to Australia in the late 1960s. Their confusion with a new country and the dark truths from their large peasant families filtered into Sandra and her three brothers. They lived a farm-type existence in the middle of the city and they frequented the sea to catch squid for their tea. The conception of Sandra and The Memory Machine began after convincing herself to visit and understand her parent's past in Croatia. She returned after 28 days. It seemed that the people and their secrets were to be forever lost and miserable. Back in London, she hibernated away from the dark lives once again, but this time she wrote about them. The shows are high energy, raw and rhythmic. The songs are simple and fresh and could live in any genre. The machine is always changing but Sandra accepts the responsibility of ownership, collecting the memories that make songs.
