Distophia
Distophia are a Birmingham Ameri-core four piece offering huge slabs of crackling lo-fi in the vain of Dinosaur Jnr licking Pavement's feet, blended in their own idiosyncratic style. Their much-acclaimed mini album 'Soda Lake' came out on the near legendary Necessary Records (also home of Hard-Fi). That was just the warmup. Their amazing full-length debut, 'Beat Dyslexia', is waiting for release (honestly). Under the watchful eye of mentor Tom Livemore, the band threw their diverse collective influences into the mix with reckless abandon, creating an album which echoes bands as diverse as Sonic Youth, The Beach Boys, Yo La Tengo, My Bloody Valentine and beyond, while still retaining Distophia's effortlessly raging, utterly distinctive sound.
