* FANDANGO RELEASES 12 SINGLES TO CELEBRATE 12 YEARS OF INDIE CHAOS*

** SCOTTISH SKYGAZERS THE MACHINE ROOM ARE THE SECOND IN LINE **

Spring 2013 sees gig promoting stalwarts Club Fandango turn 12 years old. To celebrate this highly unlikely event their in-house record company Label Fandango is releasing 12 digital singles by 12 of their very favouritest new acts throughout this year, continuing on May 13th with ‚ÄòSweden‚Äô by Scottish stargazers THE MACHINE ROOM. These singles will be available on a subscriptions basis through State 51‚Äôs greedbag shop, with a bargain payment of £7.99 ensuring receipt of all twelve singles as and when they happen. Or you can just buy the singles individually for 79p when you feel like it. It‚Äôs really up to you.

THE MACHINE ROOM, then: not the clanking heart of a factory but five mildly electro-fied dreamers from Edinburgh who consist of Adie Emanuel, Cecilia Stamp, John Bryden, Ryan Marinello and Scott Hitchings and who exist in their own swirling world of heavyweight rhythms and featherweight melodies. Just over a year ago they released the ‘Love From A Distance’ EP, which saw the quintet correctly described as “enthralling” and “epic-sounding”. Continuing the E-treat theme the follow-up is ‘Sweden’, which is released as a digital download on Label Fandango (catalogue number: GALAGOS 40) on May 13th, and is both casually ecstatic and cannily euphoric.

“Appearing on the BBC Vic Galloway’s ‘Ones To Watch’ list for 2012 The Machine Room have long been regarded as one of the most exciting bands on the Edinburgh music scene. Influenced equally by the succinct and bittersweet rhythms of New Order and the jangly pre-Britpop wonder of The House Of Love, they are ethereal, vulnerable and strikingly pop all at once. Retro pads, modern arpeggios, hooky bass and beautiful guitar lines set the backdrop for John Bryden’s falsetto delivery of lyrical honesty, packing a brutal love punch.”

THE MACHINE ROOM will be packing that love punch at these live events here:

June 12th LONDON, DALSTON, Birthdays (w/ Scanners)

Tickets: HERE

The first of the 12 12th birthday singles came out in April and was ‘Medicines’ by Northern Irish electro thumpers Ed Zealous. It fitted splendidly, too: invented by parent company fierce panda and working on the simple ethos of 'all thrills: no frills' Label Fandango set itself up as the low cost lo-fi easyjet of indie record companies. Over the past six years it has released early, pivotal and just downright ace singles by The Heartbreaks, Broken Records, Air Traffic, Brinkman, Moths!, Fanfarlo, Films Of Colour, Hey Sholay, the mighty Dingus Khan and, most recently, Nadine Shah. Throw in debut tunes by Hush The Many (who evolved into Arrows Of Love), Freerunner (who begat Little Comets), Daggers (who reappeared as Hurts), add a sprinkling of other 'original artists' we're not allowed to mention here, stir and allow to simmer for half a decade. Serve with fresh bread and a cheeky indie wink.
