DESPERATE JOURNALIST (onstage 9.00-10.00) have left ragged teeth marks on the underbelly of the underground since 2014 with a caustic, hyperactive self-titled debut album and the terrifically petulant Good Luck EP. Now comes new single Hollow which points the way to the 2017 release of brand new material by being bigger, better and bolshier than ever before. The band’s name is from a Peel session track by The Cure when they berated " desperate " NME hack Paul Morley for a churlish album review. Facebook

SKY BETWEEN LEAVES (onstage 8.15-8.45) is an East London- based Brazilian post-punk/krautrock act which has supported the seminal alternative likes of Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), The Telescopes, Mark Gardener (Ride) and AR Kane. And 14 Iced Bears. The trio has just released their debut EP called Klein Blues on lovely blue vinyl. The band's name comes from Jarvis Cocker's anecdote about wearing glasses for the first time and realising that the holes in the trees were the sky. www.skybetweenleaves.com

VYK NON (onstage 7.30-8.00) are bound together by an apparent enthusiasm for zebras and sounds that come out of leftfield, with a cacophony of noisy guitar and caterwauling vocals over a powerful rhythm section. Blistering artpunk is the phrase which springs not unreasonably to mind when clattering through their current This Is Your Room EP. And the name? “ We chose Vyk Non because we wanted a name that didn’t mean anything other than the meanings we create for it and we liked the way it looked in writing. Our plan has kind of backfired because people tend to assume we are a metal band… ” www.vyknon.com
