On Wednesday October 18th Club Fandango and Disorder Promotions thunder back to the Shacklewell Arms for a special free one-off show featuring three table-thumpingly great new bands, topped off by Irish rumbletrippers Fontaines and admirably bottomed out by the cracking Caress and phased newbies Medisin. Onwards!

FONTAINES (onstage 10.00pm) are from Dublin and make cheerily raging alt.rock which nods at the furious likes of The Fall, Idles and Eagulls, as you can hear on new single ‘Hurricane Laughter’ at www.youtube.com/watch?v=R26xFm5n6aY now. An impressive Irish gigging schedule meanwhile has seen them prop up the likes of The Lemon Twigs, YAK, Hinds and Girl Band.

THE CARESS (onstage 9.15pm) are three brothers from South London who play excellently punchy well-dressed indiepoprock which nods at C86 and necks the essence of ‘60s girl groups. Expect gigantic romantic tunes like recent Lamacq Livener ‘You’re Always Miles Away’, taken from their new fierce panda ‘You Say I Kiss Like A Girl’ EP.

MEDISIN (onstage 8.30pm) are a hazy new London fourpiece whose ‘Still Life’ demo was picked up by www.bornmusiconline.com who said it “sounds incredibly full, vibrant and colourful, evoking memories of My Bloody Valentine and The Horrors in their ‘Skying’ phase.” Tidy!
