De Rosa
De Rosa have been described as art-punk, but draws heavily on folk traditions, at least in Martin Henry's approach to lyric-writing. Henry has been quoted as saying 'I wanted the way I created music to be almost the opposite of the way the art school wanted me to create visual art. I wanted to create music completely intuitively.' Stated influences include Sonic Youth, Woodie Guthrie, Pixies, Bob Dylan, Wire, novelist Alasdair Gray, Joy Division, Kate Bush, The Go-Betweens, Johnny Cash, Mogwai, Bert Jansch, the American photographer William Eggleston, The Velvet Underground and Aphex Twin. Debut album 'Mend' was recently re-released by Chemikal Underground, and the band have been supporting Arab Strap on their last tour.
