A Classic Education come from Bologna, Italy. Part Canadian, part Italian. The band has been going for just under a year. Much has happened since. A Classic Education has been invited to play with Arcade Fire, Modest Mouse, Lightspeed Champion, Hot Club De Paris, Fanfarlo, Jeremy Warmsley. They have played a selection of London’s best club nights such as White Heat or Twee As Fuck. This summer the band have been invited to play the Indietracks Festival alongside bands such as Los Campesinos! and The Wedding Present. A Classic Education recorded their recent EP in the middle of the mountains of centre-north Italy. Jonathan, Paul & Luca played a myriad of instruments, adding layers over layers, to create a dense orchestral ecstatic liberation of their souls. Most of all this was done at night, wind blowing and dogs outside barking away. Federico proudly drummed away loudly and added his bits of percussion. Vittorio joined them and, although fighting a bad cough, managed to add his viola, violin and cello expertise. Davide looked on and took care of the recordings up at the infamous Bombanella Studios. That following summer the dogs kept barking. Pictures were taken, shows were played and a band was found. Autumn seemed like a proper season to climb back up the mountains. 'Badlands & Owls' was recorded again in the same setting in November 2007. This time Giulia finally stepped in with her organ/piano patterns and Stefano or as they call him the “Maestro” layered his violins nicely into the song.
