Andersens
Andersens were formed in 2000 by three students from the same high school, Kiyokazu Onozaki, Shinsuke Ouchi and Daisuke Kobayashi. Live, they create an inspired, often improvised sound-ceremony, blending crazed psychedelia with a wistful pop sensibility. After Andersens released their debut EP in 2002, singer/flutist Yoshiko Iguchi joined the band and added a more delicate atmosphere to the many-layered drones heard on their debut album Between Static and Fire. After Daisuke Kobayashi left the band in 2004 to pursue a career in agriculture, the band began to have a floating lineup, sometimes swelling to more than ten people, with instrumentation including esraji, trombone, saxophone, Indian percussion, synthesizer and lap top. In 2005, band leader Kiyokazu Onozaki started his own label Bye Bye Blackbird to release Andersens works.
