Marques Toliver has always embodied a classical soul. As a toddler, he would listen to Luciano Pavarotti instead of watching cartoons. He picked up the violin in grade school and went on to receive ten years of formal training with the violin. After two years on scholarship with a local prominent college, he dropped out in order to professionally pursue a career as a songwriter, vocalist and violinist. He made his way to Brooklyn, New York where he honed his improvisational skills busking in the subways and parks and picked guitar, piano and the mini harp. The music community embraced his great lyricism and intimate performances. Among the artists he has collaborated with are Kyp Malone, Grizzly Bear, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, Bat for Lashes, Holly Miranda.
