Ej releases her teaser track ‘Mama, I’m Gonna Sing’ on iTunes on 11th March 2012. The irresistible gospel-inflected semi-accapella track stamps her mark on the music world with its stomping strong lyrics and powerhouse vocal. EJ was born Edwina Johnson in Stockholm, Sweden. Her single, Barbadian mother uprooted her to spend time with an extended family in Gothenburg. Immersed in a strong musical community, her initial musical awakenings with a mix of the sacred and secular, something which has been perfectly attuned in ‘Mama, I’m Gonna Sing’. ‘I had the mix of church singing and then seeing my cousins breakdancing and listening to Michael Jackson and Neneh Cherry.’ says EJ. Expect to be blown away from her future anthems ‘Bangers & Mash’ and ‘Supersize’ coming in 2012.
